Silence by Linda Ashworth
A man in a busy household with many children
Can enjoy the silence of a peaceful country walk
Savouring the renewed energy that it gives him
Silence in a house with a missed loved one
Reverberates and reminds them who has gone
Filling them with loneliness and yearning
To hear the sound of their loved one’s voice
Just to make them feel better and remind them
Of years gone by and people who are not there
This may be children who have flown the nest
Or that missed loved one who shared their life
In a busy job silence is not just relief but healing
Before hustle and bustle of life begins again
Let us treasure silence let it be our sustenance
Helping us as we tread life’s rocky path.
